How to prevent the iPhone 3GS from Overheating
Many users have experienced that their iPhone gets more hot than usual when extensive graphics applications are used.

Apple has addressed to this issue and provided some guidelines that might help the iPhone 3GS owners to prevent their phone from overheating. Here are some of them:

Make sure to operate the iPhone in environment where the temperature is between between -20º and 45º C.
Never the leave the iPhone in the car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
Don’t use the iPhone under direct sunlight for extended amounts of time.
The same precautions apply to the iPhone 3G too.

There is a mechanism in the iPhone that warns you whenever the temperature of your device rises above the threshold.
