WHERE app for Palm Pre at release

When you are out and about, there is nothing better than to know what is going on in the area where you are and the WHERE app for the upcoming Palm Pre offers a lot of fun to the handset. So make sure that it will be one of the first apps you download to the phone.

PreCentral explains that WHERE was made famous as an application for the Apple iPhone, and serves up information such as local entertainment, gas prices, news, restaurant reviews, weather and Yellow Pages listings that are near to your location.

This is done by using GPS and cell-tower triangulation, the WHERE app will then determine your position and display the results in the area that you are in. Buddy Beacon is also included in the WHERE app, you can keep tabs on your friends and family in the area as well.

Palm is to launch the Pre on June 6 on the Sprint network, but it is thought that the Palm Pre will be made availble to Verizon in 6 months time.
